How to create Insta-worthy smoothie bowls?

Smoothie bowls are a healthy, fast, easy way to get the whole family fueled each morning. So, if you’re looking to shake up your breakfast routine, or simply start your day with a little more creativity, here’s what you need to know to build Insta-worthy bowls.

Vibrant Colours

The secret of making a vibrant smoothie bowl is using ingredients that are approximately the same color. If you combine different colors, it’s probably going to turn brown. A bunch of different-colored ingredients in your smoothie base = a brown, sad bowl.

Purple: Fruit mixes heavy on blueberries, blackberries, and black currents will leave you with a purple smoothie. Also, enjoyable and berrylicous flavour and colour comes from Be Active mix.

Pink: You will want to stick to light coloured and red fruits for a pink smoothie. Think mango, pineapple, melon and grapes for the light colours, and strawberries, cherries, pomegranate, and raspberries for red fruit. The beetroot will also take the colour to another level without really impacting the flavour, in addition for boosting the smoothies with vitamins and minerals, you can achieve pink with Be Beautiful superfood mix.

Green: Spinach is the key to creating a nice green coloured smoothie. Start with a base of light coloured fruits and blend in a big handful of spinach to turn it a beautiful shade of green. The Be More Detox mix also works well with a green smoothie.

Yellow: Turmeric acts like yellow food coloring but is way healthier helping to reduce inflammation. True vitamin bombs and a beautiful color add is buckthorn berries. Try adding Collagen Edition Buckthorn’n’Lemon collagen mix or Marine Collagen Mango’n’Lemon mix.

A bright blue colour can be achieved with blue spirulina.

Perfect Texture

If your smoothie is thin, the toppings will sink. You want what you’re putting into your bowl to be more like ice cream than a smoothie. A thick, sturdy base will keep any splatter at bay and prevent your toppings from sinking to the bottom.

How exactly do you get a texture like that?

Use fruits like frozen banana and mango, which create that desired ice-creamy consistency. Avocado and zucchini, are similarly creamy and their flavors are easy to mask. Rolled oats, Be More chia seeds, and Be More hemp seeds add also flavor and thickness. Plus they’re packed with fiber and protein, which keep you full until lunchtime. A great way to thicken the texture at once is to add high-protein ingredients like nut butter and yogurt. Also consider powders, like Be More superfood powders and powder mixes, or vegetables like kale, which add concentrated flavor and an extra boost of nutrients. Either blend Be More powders and mixes into your smoothie or use them to create stunning designs on top of your bowl or both.

Help Your Blender

Using frozen fruit is optimal in order to make the blend thick and not soupy, but cut up fruits into pieces before freezing to make it easier on your blender. Adding the liquid first helps your blender easily pulse ingredients. Great blender for smoothie bowls is Blendtec blender.

Toppings That Look Great

Transfer the smoothie to your bowl slowly and carefully. Start by pouring the smoothie into the center of the bowl. Then spread it around gently with a spoon until it evenly covers the bottom.

Pick nutritious toppings that look great on their own. Arranging your toppings on the bowl. To keep it as neat as possible, set out ingredients slowly, either with a spoon or fingers. Getting the layers to look great comes down to patience and practice. A general rule of thumb is heavier toppings first like granola and fresh fruits, then lighter toppings last like coconut chips, nuts and Be More superfood powders. The perfect finish to your bowl is a blooming food trend adding to our smoothie bowls: edible flowers.
