Minerals are essential nutrients that are needed in small amounts to keep you healthy. The body does not make minerals. To meet your daily needs, minerals must be obtained through the food and beverages you eat and drink. Most people can meet their mineral needs by eating a variety of healthy foods.
Calcium
Almost all calcium is stored in bones and teeth to help make and keep them strong. Your body needs calcium to help muscles and blood vessels contract and expand, and to send messages through the nervous system.
