How were sin-free candies born?

1. Julia, talk a little about yourself, what work do you do and what are your hobbies?

By nature, I am a rather volatile soul – I have to learn all the time. That’s why I became an entrepreneur so that I could make all my ideas happen. Today I am a nutritionist – I offer people the opportunity to look at their lifestyle and diet from a slightly different angle than they may be used to doing. In addition, I also make cooking classes for children, where we get to know different tastes and prepare exciting dishes together.

To keep the physical side in balance with the mind, I dedicate the other half of my time to making healthy sweets, raw candy and raw cakes that do not contain white sugar, dairy products and gluten.

And when it comes to hobbies, they are largely about work – if you find a way to make money with your hobby, you don’t have to go to work for the rest of your life. In my spare time, I still grab a book – it’s usually a cookbook, less often a psychology book or biography. I like to start my mornings with a fast walk – it helps to organize my thoughts, generate ideas, keep my physical body toned and enjoy the beauty of nature.

2. Where did your interest for health and food come from?

My interest has come through several painful experiences. After the birth of my child, I was over 30 kg overweight and felt bullied and then I started looking for solutions to lose weight.

In addition two members of my family, left with a relatively short period of time, and then I realized that if I would have had all this knowledge at that moment, maybe I could have saved them. From there, a very strong connection between health and general lifestyle emerged for me.

3. How did you take the first steps to work in this area?

It is very usual in my life that right people find me or I somehow “stumble” on them. It all started with one food class, where I hoped to learn from one specifical chef. And somehow it happened – he invited me to help him cater for bigger and smaller events.

I also learned how to make sweets that are free from white sugar and dairy products. This was originally intended to cover my own needs, but over time it became clear that there is a wider interest in such products and I started to make them for others as well.

4. Do you consider yourself a person with a healthy lifestyle?

In general, I am a fairly healthy person, but we are all human and I sin during a stressful period. But all the knowledge from being a nutritionist has given me the ability analyze my behavior and make adjustments based on it. Every decision will affect my health now and also in 5-10 years.

I have often been told that eating healthily is expensive. At the same time, I like to think that I would rather spend more on healthy food and enjoy a good quality of life than pay on pharmaceutical companies afterwards.

5. Most of today’s sweets contain chemical flavors, colors and of course, a lot of white sugar. What does consuming such things do to our health?

White or refined sugar does not contain anything good for our body, but it does contain a lot of calories. In addition, sugary foods raise blood sugar pretty quickly, and it drops just as quickly – results are hunger and the need to eat again. In other words, the body quickly receives a lot of energy, and the part that the body does not consume is deposited as fat. At the same time, our body has not received enough nutrients.

Chemical additives have the same function – they play with our taste buds, making food more attractive to us. This gives us the appetite to consume more, whether we want it or not.

6. Introduce us to your candies – what exactly is in there and what makes them quite sin-free?

I make candy and its fillings from pure organic raw materials. They do not contain white sugar, dairy products or gluten. I create candy flavors using the gift of nature – berries, fruits, nuts, cocoa. My goal is to use the purest possible raw materials that have value for our body.

I don’t call them quite sin-free, because they still contain calories, but at the same time the candies are made from pure ingredients and Be More superfood mixes, thanks to which they contain a lot of useful nutrients. And because I use relatively few sweeteners and they are only natural, eating these candies does not cause such a large fluctuation in blood sugar – energy is released more evenly and as a result there is no excessive hunger.

7. Where did the idea come from?

I had two reasons for this: I cannot consume dairy products myself and white sugar has always been my concern. On the other hand, as a parent, I didn’t want to offer my child the usual sweets, but I knew that it’s not possible to remove him completely from them. At one point, children reach an age where we can no longer control what they eat, so I saw an opportunity to create alternatives for my child.

8. What are the flavors of these candies?

Although I like to experiment with different flavors, in this candy box you will find nice berry-fruity flavors. The raspberry-coconut-filled candy with Raspberry’n’Cherry collagen blend is delicate, but at the same time kind of flavor explosion, the blackcurrant-nut candy with Be Active superfood blend has a slightly fuller taste, with kind of a freshness note and the chocolate-orange candy with Buckthorn’n’Lemon collagen blend has a very delicious and luxurious taste.

9. What are your Christmas traditions?

Our family’s Christmas traditions are related to my grandparents’ home – as far as I can remember, we have always visited the cemetery on Christmas Eve. Then we gather at Grandma and Grandpa’s place for a big family dinner with gifts, Santa Claus and poems.

Even now that we are all adults and Grandpa is no longer with us, we are all waiting for the most important event of the year – just to sit together without hurry and enjoy eachothers company.

10. Why give a healthy box of candies in a Christmas pack for your loved ones?

Before and during Christmas, we tend to be more relaxed and allow ourselves more – more food, more sweets, more heavy food. At the same time, we move less and put a strain on our bodies. We often promise that at the beginning of new year we will start training, eating properly and living a healthy life – but I suggest that we start fulfilling our promises earlier this year, take the first step before Christmas – this time we will choose a different and healthier Christmas package.
